Swami Ramdev Yoga, Yoga Postures, Asanas, Pranayam, yoga to the people. The science of Yoga is one of the sciences that we find in the treasury of Vedic knowledge. It was great sage “Patanjali” in his ‘Yoga Sutras’ has explained this science in detail. Ayurveda is the science of life or longevity and yoga is the science of linking the individual self with the Universal self. Both the sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda have evolved from the same philosophy, culture and country. Yoga tries to expand the narrow constricted egoistic personality to the all – pervasive, eternal and blissful state of reality. The Ayurvedic system of a medicine has given this world greatest of measures to keep ones mind, body and soul in a perfect harmony.
It is stated in the Vedas by the great sages that if human consume the right diet as per the requirements of ones body, stays in harmony with the ever changing environment, performs physical activity to the required amount as per ones body strength, then one can stay healthy and live a fruitful life forever. YOGA” as we come to know that it not only provides physical strength our body but also gives the mental strength, peace, calmness and serenity to our mind. Yoga is not just the means to reach to tranquility & spirituality; it even gives our body the capability to attain as much as positive vibes & reduce down the negative energy. As it is said by the great sages in Ayurveda that of the three gunas’ Sattva, Rajasa & Tamasa that the living creatures are made up of the “Sattvic” guna is the most beneficial. This “Sattvic” guna is attained by an individual only when he follows the principles that are mentioned in Ayurveda for diet, nature, physical activity, etc.
YOGA” as we know it has originated from the ancient India and is the greatest of the gifts that has been given to the mankind by Sages or Yogi’s of the ancient India. There is an ancient Indian saying that if an individual consumes butter everyday in his meals he will become fat and obese; but if the same individual performs yoga everyday and consumes the same amount of butter in his diet he shall attain high levels of energy to easily take up physical as well as mental stress. It was the belief of the sages or yogis that if a man has to be in harmony with the environment and himself he has to integrate or combine his mind, his body and his soul. Therefore for the integration of these three the individual’s intelligence, emotions & actions that one does must be balanced.
Thus the only possible way for the achievement & maintenance of the balance was via the three basic aspects of Yoga: Exercise Breathing & Meditation As Yoga in Sanskrit means “Union”. Thus yoga not only does us to focus ourselves but it even helps us to get over everyday stress. Thus yogis’ achieved the balance of between mind, body and soul via exercise, breathing control and meditation, resulting in the development of the three main pillars of “YOGA”. Therefore if we put it down in simple words we can say that yoga is a way of performing controlled exercises, controlled breathing and controlled meditation thus resulting in the attainment of the most healthiest and fruitful life. These controlled actions of body; mind and soul result in the improvement of circulation, stimulation of abdominal organs, and even produces the pressure on the glandular system of the body to provide an individual health. Thus an individual when practices yoga he restricts his movements and then reaches to a next level to control the rate of his breathing; These breathing techniques in yoga are based on the concepts that breath is the source of life in human’s body and is when controlled it prepares the mind for the next level that is Meditation.
Thus when an individual attains this meditating state he finds the door to his “Inner. Soul” or “SUKSHAMA SHARIRA”. It is only by practicing Yoga everyday that the seven CHAKRAS’or Nerve Centers (Power generating points) are activated in our body. According to the Tantra Yoga there are six charkas – nerve centers distributed throughout the body in addition to the main brain center called Sahashrara. The main three nadi’s Ida, Pingala & Sushumna – connect these chakras to the brain. These chakras are: Muladhara Chakra (Sacral or Coccygeal Plexus) Swadhisthana Chakra (Hypogastric or Lumbar Plexus) Manipura Chakra (Coelic Plexus) Anahat Chakra (Cardiac Plexus) Vishuddha Chakra (Cervical Plexus) Ajna Chakra (Thalamus) Sahashrara Chakra (Brain) There are various types of Yoga practices Hatha Yoga, Raj Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Dhyana Yoga, Mantra Yoga, Karma Yoga. Etc. Thus the principles of Ayurveda and Yoga go together.
